What To Look For In A Pet Carrier

Posted by admin on November 24, 2011

For those that want to take their pet via an airline, all airlines today are going to require airline approved pet carriers. If this carrier isn’t approved, the airline won’t accept the pet. Before considering a flight with a pet, there are a few things that one must note before purchasing a carrier.

Make Sure It’s Approved: The best way to make sure that a pet carrier is approved is simply by reading the manufacturer’s description. If the carrier is approved, it will be noted in the description. These carriers are designed so that they can fit underneath an airline seat for those that are bringing an animal on board. Keep in mind that most airlines will only allow certain animals up to a certain weight onto their airline.

Know The Size: Make sure that the carrier is going to be adequate enough for the animal. Most airline approved carriers that are designed for the interior of an airline are going to support animals up to 15 to 20 pounds, depending on the brand. Be sure to note the weight capacity to ensure that the animal is comfortable during the flight. If the animal isn’t comfortable, there’s a good chance that the animal will make noise throughout the flight.

These are two of the main components to look for when considering an airline approved carrier out there. Be sure to compare a few different makes and models as they all vary. Compare the material, read reviews as well as ensure that the pet will be comfortable sitting in it.
